Liebenzeller resin has been made in a small village in the German Black Forest for more than 40 years. The unique recipe was developed in 1922 in the workshop of the Viennese violin maker Dr. Thomastik. Liebenzeller rosin is traditionally made by hand. The use of pure larch resin with the addition of various metals produces a livelier, warmer and clearer sound than other resins. This helps to produce a stronger volume and carrying capacity, and a great finesse of timbre and resonance. The bow gives an excellent and even response, where disturbing sounds are kept to a minimum.
About the gold dust additions:
Creates a unique balance; the sound is full, round, warm and yet clear, transparent and light in treble.
About the degrees:
Degrees I (hard) to VI (soft): the softer rosins make the sound of an instrument milder and rounder, the harder gradations provide more clarity.
This Gold II rosin is developed for violin and viola.
